Description:

This course will provide the candidate with a broad foundation in the fundamentals, philosophies and pedagogies of dance. The candidate will be required to demonstrate in depth knowledge of practical and theoretical elements of several dance forms. A focus on: leadership; modeling best practices; creating and writing programming; networking; implementing current technology; a variety of reflective practices; assessment and evaluation; an understanding of the Ministry of Education and district board policies and guidelines. The course requires a minimum of 125 hours of work by the candidate. Readings, assignments and consultation make up twenty-five of these hours, while one hundred hours are devoted to instruction. Successful candidates will be recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers.
