Description:

Students examine historical and contemporary approaches to the philosophy of law, with particular attention to issues arising from the relationship between law and morality. Students gain an overview of the main positions on the nature of law, as well as discussing legal reasoning and interpretation, and surveying important critical approaches to the study of law. Readings in legal theory are accompanied by some discussion of legal cases taken from the Canadian and global contexts.  This course may be credited towards Political Science.
