Description:

This course enables students to investigate and analyze the various sociological approaches to understanding the nature and role of consumer culture in modern societies. In addition to focusing on the symbolic meaning of consumption, emphasis will be placed on issues of identity, lifestyle, constraint, freedom of choice and how the market place is used to facilitate distinction and reinforce social relationships.  This course may be credited towards Anthropology.
