Description:

This course is an intensive examination of ancient Greek Drama. Students will read a wide variety of Greek dramatic authors including the tragedies Aeschylus, Euripides, and Sophocles, select satyr plays, and Old Comedy by Aristophanes. Each author will be studied in their appropriate social and political contexts and attention will also be paid to the origins, evolution, staging and logistics of dramatic productions in ancient Greece. This course may be credited towards English Studies (Group 1).
