Prerequisites:

BIOL 1006 and BIOL 2837

Antirequisites:

BIOL 4506 if it was taken during the years 2005 to 2009.

Three hours of lecture per week for one term.

Description:

This course focuses on that many ways that animals use chemosensory information to guide their interactions with other organisms and with the environment. Topics include the importance of chemical information in mediating foraging, detecting and avoiding predators, succeeding at reproduction, guiding homing and migration, establishing territoriality, and assessing habitat quality. A wide taxonomic range of examples will be covered from both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
