Description:

This course provides an historic overview of adult education and the conceptual and methodological underpinnings of andragogy. Students examine: views on the nature of the adult learner; theories of adult psychological development, personal change and transformational learning; and literature on self-directed learning and adult learning styles. Students become aware of the challenges adults face when returning to formal education and how the design of adult schools and programs can support adult learner success.
