Description:

The Principals Development course is designed for fully qualified Principals and Vice Principals with a minimum of two years experience as an administrator in Ontario schools. The course is focused on extending and refining the knowledge and skills required by Principals and Vice Principals to efficiently and effectively provide educational leadership in the context of schools and school communities. Candidates will explore the roles of practicing Principals and Vice Principals and build upon their experience, knowledge, skills and attitudes in dealing with complex issues related to managing and leading a school. Throughout the course there will be a consistent focus on linking participant experiences, personal learning interests and current school context to leadership, legal issues, human resource development and management, the development of school capacity, and professional learning communities. The approach taken with this course will reflect an adult learning model wherein participants will be expected to be significantly self directed and mutually supportive of the learning of others.
