ACCT 3127 Accounting Information Systems
Hours:One and one half hours of lecture and one and one half hours of laboratory work per week for one term.
Description:This course will introduce the student to computerized accounting information systems and their role within modern profit and not-for-profit organizations. The course will focus on evaluating and using systems and software to provide the accounting and management information required by the various users. Theory will cover such topics as defining an accounting information system, current technology, documenting an information system, general controls over systems, and computer crime and ethics. The student will have significant hands-on experience with using a computerized accounting system and will also be expected to evaluate and research others during the course.
