ANTR 3027 Anthropology, Aboriginal Peoples, and The Law
Antirequisites:ANTR 3367 taken in 2008 or 2009.
Hours:Three hours of lecture per week for one term.
Description:This course will explore anthropological approaches to the role of law and legal systems with respect to Aboriginal peoples in Canada. Particular attention will be paid to diverse cultural perspectives that have informed legal traditions in the areas of land, resources, governance, legal procedures, and Aboriginal and Treaty rights. This course may be credited towards Native Studies and Social Welfare & Social Development.
