Hours:Three hours of lecture per week for one term.
Description:This course provides an introduction to the field child and family studies and examines the advantages of a multidisciplinary approach to studying children and families. Theoretical issues and debates are addressed, notably concerning the normative basis upon which the well-being of children and families can be assessed. Other topics include the history of childhood, the evolution of family life, childhood development, the stresses and challenges confronting children and families, and potential strategies for empowerment.
