COSC 3006 Numerical Methods I
Prerequisites:COSC 1557 and MATH 2036
Hours:Three hours of lecture and one hour of laboratory work per week for one term.
Description:This course provides the mathematical background for numerical methods as well as a variety of computer applications in the solution of practical problems. Topics covered include Taylor polynomials, computer representation of numbers, error computation, root-finding, interpolation and approximation methods, numerical differentiation and integration; the solution of systems of linear equations, and the numerical solution of differential equations. This course may be credited towards Mathematics.
