Students explore theories of social work practice skills as a basis for developing ethical group practice. Topics include assessment from multiple perspectives, stages of group formation, facilitation, intervention skills, and evaluation. Addressing the needs of diverse groups is explored throughout the course, with a particular focus on northern and rural contexts. Applying theory to practice and further developing skills of critical self-reflection are central.
