Students focus on how race, racism, and ethnicity affect the ability of various groups to access work opportunities, social welfare, and social rights in contemporary societies. Topics covered may include immigrants, refugees, diasporas, Indigenous peoples, colonialism, slavery, nationalism, citizenship, minority rights, multiculturalism, segregation, social exclusion, employment equity, and anti-racist struggles.
