Description:

Students critically examine the way in which the mainstream child welfare system is designed and delivered, with a particular focus on its impact on Indigenous children and families. Beginning from an historical perspective, students explore the structural issues that continue to impact Aboriginal peoples. Child welfare work in the contemporary context is investigated in both Indigenous contexts and mainstream settings, as a means of exploring alternative methods of intervention.
