Description:

Students explore, in thematic fashion, popular movements in Europe between the separation of the Eastern and Western churches and the great Western Schism of the late fourteenth century. Topics that may be explored include new religious movements, popular devotions and heresy hunting, the rise of literacy, social movements and popular revolts, understandings of health and disease, and their impact on the social and cultural life of the period.
