HIST 2226 The Making of Modern Europe: From Revolution to Total War 1789-1914
Prerequisites:Six credits of 1000 level History or 24 credits completed.
Hours:Three hours of lecture per week for one term.
Description:Students consider developments in European history over the span of the ""long 19th century"" from 1789-1914. Among the principal events examined are the French Revolution and its consequences, industrialization, the rise of nationalism, liberalism, socialism and Imperialism. Students gain a foundational understanding of the rise of European hegemony.
