Description:

Students survey the history of ancient Greece from the Bronze Age to the end of the Classical period through the Athenian experience. Students examine the political evolution of Athens from monarchy, to oligarchy, tyranny, and democracy. Students also study the growth of Athenian imperialism and its consequences for the wider Greek and non-Greek worlds and the reasons for Athens’ loss of sovereignty under Philip II and Alexander the Great. This course may be credited towards History.
