Description:

Students engage in a philosophical inquiry into what it is to be and to understand a work of art. Topics may include: the definition of art; what you may learn from art; the nature of and criteria of aesthetic experience; what it means to say that works of art have meanings, express, or represent; an analysis of the procedures and arguments employed by critics. This course may be credited towards a Major in Fine Arts (Art History and Visual Studies stream).
