Description:

Though war in its many forms has shaped much of international history, state and non-state actors have often devoted much attention to concepts and mechanisms that could limit violence and destruction. In this course students consider the impact of Just war doctrine, international law and concepts of human rights on the modern state in times of international conflict from the aftermath of the Thirty Years War to 20th century.
