Students consider how, since the last ice age, people in northern North America/Turtle Island have shaped nature in order to ensure their survival, and ways in which nature has shaped the variety of societies existing in this place. This course considers history of key human-nature interactions -- from hunting, fishing, and farming to industrialization - - and their development. Students gain an understanding of the fundamental environmental bases of Canada.
