Description:

Students explore twenty-first century texts about the dying teenager directed to a teenage readership. They contextualize contemporary texts like The Fault in Our Stars (2012) in relation to literature from past centuries such as Little Women (1869) and A Token for Children (1672). They analyze the reasons for the popularity of this subgenre and the ways in which the relationship between literature and popular culture contributes to that popularity.
