Description:

Students examine the methods of imperial expansion and control in the ancient Greek and Roman worlds, from Alexander the Great, to the Hellenistic Successor Empires, and the Roman Empire from its inception to its decline in the Fifth Century CE. Students pay special attention to the techniques of imperial rule and to the variety of resistance movements that developed in response to claims of imperial hegemony, and the various techniques of resistance they employed.
