Description:

Teacher candidates explore new literacy practices including digital, print, and multimedia, as they differ from conventional print-based literacies, and their corresponding values, sensibilities, and norms. Candidates consider the impact of new literacies on culture and identity; dominant literacies and their role in marginalizing or silencing voices; multi-modal text use in meaning-making, critical analysis, and knowledge construction; the need to bridge in-school and out-of-school literacies; and teaching and learning with new literacies across the curriculum.
