Three hours of lecture per week for one term.

Description:

Students examine issues associated with mathematics education such as mathematical literacy (including numeracy) within the various levels of schooling; cross-curricular integration; equity; problem-based learning; student collaboration; the role of instructional technology; balanced assessment; professional development for teachers; and historical/contemporary trends in mathematics teaching and learning. Since discussions and assignments will focus on issues, a specialized mathematics background is not a prerequisite for this course.
