Description:

Students explore contemporary history of Latin America from the development and accomplishments of Andean civilizations to the present day struggle to build viable economic, political, and social institutions. Students examine Latin America’s position in the global economy from Latin America and U.S. relations to how dictatorships and democracies have shaped Latin American identity. They also examine concepts of race and ethnicity, urbanization and migration, religion, ritual festivals, and indigenous social movements.
