Description:

This course explores the social, cultural, political, and economic dimensions of HIV/AIDS. We examine the ideological challenges that arise as a result of the mides of transmission as well as the activities of the populations most at risk. We are interested in local, national and global levels of analysis, and in particular, we seek to apply an intersectional framework of analysis. Finally, we reflect on the evolution of governance and policies at the national and international levels that have resulted from HIV/AIDS as it has morphed and changed from its introduction in the 1980s to the present. This course may be credited towards Social Welfare and Social Development.
