Description:
This course examines the relationship between women and social welfare. We analyze the conflicts between work and family life, and the policies and programs that have been developed to respond to these conflicts. Topics discussed may include women's work, women's unpaid labour and caring roles, women's movements, the feminization of poverty and migration, women's rights, access to quality services, and participation in decision-making. Throughout the course, women's experiences, both in and outside of the classroom, are an important source of information and learning. This course may be credited towards Gender Equality and Social Justice.
