Description:

This course will introduce students to the chemical and physical properties of enzymes. Topics to be discussed include how enzyme catalysis occurs, kinetics, environmental effects on catalysis, regulation of activity, different types of mechanisms and activity inhibition. A number of important enzyme families will be discussed, as will how to experimentally ascertain information about an enzyme's structure and catalytic mechanism. This course is also offered as BIOL 3306.
