Description:
Students study the history of ancient empires from Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic kingdoms to the expansion of Rome into the Hellenistic world and beyond. Students pay special attention to the factors relating to the growth of imperialism in ancient societies and the impact of imperial histories in shaping ancient and modern histories of Europe and the Near East. This course may be credited towards History.
