ENGL 2015  Theatre Production: Practice and Theory

Three credits of 1000 level ENGL (excluding ENGL 1551 and ENGL 1552).

Two hours of lecture and two hours of seminar per week.

This course takes a holistic approach to theatre production studying various theatrical elements and examining how they relate to one another in an overall performance. Students will not only study the theories and techniques underlying the dramatic arts but also stage a major production in which they will put into practice course knowledge. Along with seminars, weekly workshops on performance and production are a major part of this course and students are expected to participate in the class production, to attend plays in the community, and to be involved with field trips to dramatic performances.
