Description:

Students focus on political terrorism and the role of Canadian law enforcement agencies in counterterrorism in the post 911 era. The history and development of political terrorism is discussed, including motivations of terrorists and tactics employed. The contemporary composition of domestic and foreign terrorism confronting Canada law enforcement is described. Canadian legislation pertaining to the investigation and prosecution of terrorism activities is explored, and law enforcement counterterrorism strategies are examined, including the expanding use of electronic surveillance. The future of political terrorism and counterterrorism responses is discussed.
