NURS 2007  Concepts in Mental Health Nursing

Prerequisites:

All NURS courses at the 1000 level with a minimum grade of 60% or SAT and BIOL 1011 and BIOL 2707; or enrollment in the RPN to BScN Program.

Corequisites:

NURS 2207

Antirequisites:

NSGD 2007

Restrictions:

Enrollment in the Collaborative BScN or RPN to BScN OnCampus Bridging Program.

Hours:

Three hours of lecture per week for one term.

Credits:

Description:

Students learn the theory and practice of effective communication, with emphasis on therapeutic relationships and cultural competency. Students explore concepts, such as empathy, assertiveness, and conflict resolution. Students review assessment of individuals with mental health concerns and strategies for intervening to assist these individuals to achieve recovery.
