Building from the disciplines of history and geography, students explore the relationship between European imperialism and the environment in the context of colonial expansion from the 18th to the 20th centuries through slavery, trade, settlement, racial hierarchies, and imperial defence, and the geographical concepts of place, landscape, and scale. This course is also offered as HIST 3237.
