Any 18 credits completed.

Three hours of lecture per week for one term.

Students study seminal works from Ancient Greece, the Hellenistic World, and Rome which are appropriately described as “the ancient novel,” including the “Ideal Novel” in Greece and the Hellenistic World and the “Comic Novel” in Rome. Students explore key works and learn how these ancient forms of the novel both grew out of earlier literary forms and developed into the modern novel. This course may be credited towards English Studies.
