Description:

Students are introduced to social work including the origins of the profession, its core values and ethical principles, the personal and professional traits and skills that characterize social workers, contexts for practice and strategic priorities for Canadian social work. Students begin to consider diversity among service users and the effects of structures of oppression on human experience and perceptions of need. Students explore their own worldviews and values and their impact on professional practice.
