Description:
Students explore the social, political, and religious foundations of Western Europe from the beginning of the Christian Roman Empire to the final division between the Latin and Greek churches. Students get a broad overview of the Middle Ages, paying particular attention to the development of social, political, and religious institutions and their role in shaping medieval life and practices. Students also examine the interactions of Western Christendom with Byzantium and the Muslim world.
