Description:
Students are introduced to the study of war and the discipline of military history. Students examine various methodological approaches to investigate modern warfare. Study begins with the questions: What is military history? How is it written? Why? Students read and discuss foundational exemplary works and learn how to research and write historically. Particular attention is paid to engaging the wide-range of military histories from traditional ‘battle studies’ to the broader context of war and society.
