Students critically examine the ways Indigenous peoples are depicted in news and documentary coverage of significant historical events, including the North-West Rebellion, the White Paper, the Oka Crisis, the TRC, Idle No More, and the Stanley trial. Students will study the ways Indigenous journalists and documentarians have challenged mainstream news with their own reporting and investigative journalism in recent years.
