Prerequisites:

CRJS 3106. It is strongly recommended that students have PSYC 2126 and PSYC 2127 or SOCI 2126 and SOCI 2127 prior to taking CRJS 3107.

Antirequisites:

SOCI 4295 if taken in 2003-2004 and PSYC 3635 and PSYC 3636

Three hours of lecture per week for one term.

Description:

This course will begin with an examination and evaluation of aspects of prevention and rehabilitation in the criminal justice system in Canada. In addition, specific groups of those in conflict with the law will be studied in order to highlight the heterogeneity of offenders. Topics of particular contemporary interest in the field (such as eyewitness testimony, self-injury and suicide, or alcohol and drug abuse) will be covered. It is strongly recommended that students have PSYC 2126 and PSYC 2127 or SOCI 2126 and SOCI 2127 prior to taking CRJS 3106. This course may be credited toward Psychology.
