Description:

Throughout history, humans have exhibited a religious impulse. But is this really true and what does it mean? Are there certain types of beliefs that all humans have in common? Are there particular social rituals that bind all human communities together and that refer to superhuman beings? What is the origin of these beliefs and rituals and what is their function? Students examine these and other questions about religion in this introductory course.
