Description:

Studying the variability of water movement, distribution and quality in the environment offers a foundation for sustainable water management. Students explore hydrologic processes that govern water movement and linkages to water quality within varying natural and human impacted landscapes. Drawing from case studies in subfields of hydrology (e.g. forest, agriculture, urban, isotope), students learn key concepts related to environmental tracers and develop practical skills in conducting hydrological studies. The course can be taught together with ENST 5326 Topics in Environmental Hydrology with undergraduate students being subject to different assignments and evaluation criteria than graduate students.
