Description:
Studying past environments is vital to conservation and global change challenges. This cross-disciplinary subject utilizes the understanding of the past to better inform the future. The principal aims are to interrogate past environmental change using natural archives and proxy data. Students learn key concepts and theories necessary to investigate important topics in palaeoecology. Students assess how palaeoecological approaches can be applied to understanding global problems, such as climate change, wildfires, pollution, biodiversity, and habitat degradation. This course may be credited towards Biology.
