Graduation Procedures
Students must complete and submit an Application for Graduation by the deadlines specified below in order to be considered for graduation. An online application is available through WebAdvisor. Applications for Graduation received after the specified due date will be applied to the next graduation period.
Convocation ceremonies are only scheduled once per year in June, but there are three graduation periods throughout the year:October, February and June. The Application for Graduation deadlines are as follows:

Diplomas will be mailed to those who graduate in October or February as well as for those June graduates who do not attend convocation.
Transcripts
Graduates will each receive one official transcript upon graduation. To order additional transcripts, students must present their request in writing to the Office of the Registrar. The fee for additional transcripts is outlined in the Service Fees section of the University’s website.
Replacement of Graduation Diplomas
Graduates may apply in writing to the Office of the Registrar for a replacement of their graduation diplomas. The fee for a replacement diploma is outlined in the Service Fees section of the University’s website.
Convocation Ceremony
Convocation ceremonies are normally scheduled in June. Please consult the convocation website for comprehensive information about this year’s convocation ceremonies.
Distinction at Graduation
Average Required
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students who graduate with an overall average of 80% or higher on courses taken toward their degree or post-baccalaureate diploma at Nipissing University will be granted distinction upon graduation.
Minimum Number of Credits Taken at Nipissing University
Undergraduate students must complete at least 50% of their undergraduate degree requirements, post-baccalaureate students must complete 100% of their diploma requirements and achieve an overall average of 80% or higher.
Exceptions
The following degrees are not awarded “with distinction”:
- Bachelor of Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing – Scholar Practitioner Program
- Graduate degrees
Residency Requirements
To be considered for a Nipissing University degree, all students must successfully complete a prescribed number of credits at Nipissing. Consult the undergraduate and graduate regulations for more information about program-specific residency requirements.
