Description:

Teacher candidates review and interrogate children's literature from various genres (story, poetry, traditional, realistic fiction, nonfiction) and cultures, with an emphasis on literature that supports aesthetic enjoyment, overall language development (including reader response, writing, inquiry, talk), social-emotional development, cultural awareness, and curricular integration. Candidates consider strategies that foster a lifelong love of literature, including a focus on selecting, evaluating, and finding the most appropriate selections for diverse learners.
