Description:

This course examines the idea of social development in the context of contemporary debates on how best to achieve human well-being and dignity, especially for people who live in poverty. Topics covered may include socialexclusion, social justice, basic needs, human rights, gender equality, cultural diversity, peace and security, sustainable development, freedom and selfdetermination, and democracy and accountable governance.
