Prerequisites:

SWRK 3106, SWRK 3216, SWRK 3226, SWRK 3356, and SWRK 3506 with a minimum average of 70% on those courses.

Restrictions:

Restricted to students in the 3rd year of the BSW program.

Hours:

Three hours per week for one term.

Credits:

Description:

Students examine both structural and interpersonal violence. Using examples such as the residential school system, students critically analyze how political and social arrangements may harm people. The theoretical underpinnings of interpersonal violence are also explored and the complex contexts in which the violence occurs. Criminal and civil law and evidence-informed interventions are studied.
