Description:

Students examine the aesthetics of large-scale film productions. Students are encouraged to reflect upon how the enormous expense of films such as these needing to be recouped by broad popular exposure renders them a valuable expression of the prevailing imagination and ideology of their society. Students further explore how special effects and digital visual effects afford filmmakers an expanded visual and imaginative palette, which can be used to diverse aesthetic and ideological ends.  This course may be credited towards a Major in Fine Arts (Art History and Visual Studies stream).
