Description:

This course is the second of three courses designed for teachers to qualify as specialist teachers of students with visual impairment. Part II will provide an in-depth study of the student who has residual vision and is classified as having low vision. It will emphasize opthalmological studies, including anatomy and physiology of the eye, and various eye conditions and the implications for learning. Emphasis will be placed on functional visual assessments and special instructional strategies appropriate to varying degrees of visual impairment. There is an emphasis on teaching, learning and assessment strategies informed by recent research.
