Description:
This course examines issues in the delivery and quality of health care. Particular attention is given to the social, economic, political, and environmental influences on health and illness, as well as the relationship between disease and social structures. Topics covered may include poverty and health, gender and health, ethnicity and health, family and child health, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, the health sector workforce, the pharmaceutical industry, Medicare and the Canada Health Act, and ongoing reforms to the health care system.
