Description:

The course examines the history of sport and popular spectacles in modern society. It offers an exploration of the development of modern leisure, but also considers the cultural and social meaning of various types of recreation and entertainment, which may include sporting events at the local, national and international level, world fairs, and political celebrations.  This course is also offered as HIST 3947.
